I'm aiming for one a day. Unfortunately for some of the time I will be camping, so I hope to manage this, but it might get a bit tricky if I have no internet access.
Many of our friends over the years have said that cryptic crosswords don't make sense. They certainly do play with your mind, and that is why I take delight in them. I love the surprising discovery inside a puzzle and the challenge of twisting the usual thought patterns and making them do something different.
So here is today's offering...
One of the most common ploys is the use of an anagram. (Jumbled letters)
Shadowy figures led infield (3-7)
This is a classic example
Shadowy is the straight clue
Figures is the indicator for an anagram
Use the letters of "led infield" to find your answer.
Ill defined is shadowy.
Shot old raven across country (8) Advertiser 8/2/16
Shot is the indicator
Across country is the straight clue
Old raven becomes overland
This one is extra special:
Stable workers sent offshore twice (10) Advertiser 29/2/16
"Stable workers" is the straight clue
"Off" and "twice" are the indicators
"Shore" is the word to be playing with (twice)
