The Swedish holiday house

I thought you might be interested to hear about the house we have stayed in while in Sweden.

Our house is about 23 km from the event centre in Gothenburg.  You head out of the city on a freeway toward Oslo and head out towards the East coast. We can be in the centre of town in less than 30 minutes, but it is a lovely rural landscape.

The island of Marstrand can be seen on the far left of the map where we went today on a day trip ( just continue on our road until you get to the coast).

Kirsten found out about our house online and it has been great. Seven of us have had enough room to cohabit happily for the week. There is enough room for us all to fit around the table together if we want to  or room to spread to the other rooms.

The house is very warm.  Windows are double glazed and although the heating is not on we find that we need only a sheet to sleep at night comfortably as the house does not seem to cool down.

The front of the house

the back door-with shoes drying against the house

The entry area-where we leave our many Pairs of shoes

The creative centre of the home

Everyone at work on their devices

Our bedroom ( please excuse the mess)

The ground cellar out the front of the house.  This is quite common apparently.
Heating unit-they have these on many walls inside the house. They hold warm water and are controlled with a thermostat. At the moment they are not in use.

  1. Hi Erica & Trevor, Thanks to Sue I've been following your blog. Very impressive - very comprehensive! Don't know how you find the energy to write and upload photos each day after orienteering.
Found your comments about the house you're currently staying in interesting as Greg & his wife have their home in a small town called Hedemora, approx 5 hours drive north east from Gothenburg. The Swedish seem to be very fond of clean, clutter-free, light interiors (which I like) and bright exteriors.
Looks like you've got great weather at the moment. Hope that continues.

    1. Hi Sandy,
It has been a really interesting experience to see how others live.
We are very spoiled to have the Internet so available ( especially with our poor planning)
The blog is also our diary of sorts, so worth keeping up when we can. Uploading the phot or can take ages.
      Love to you and Brett
