Steam age to iron age in one day

Our day started with a ride on an old steam railway (initially part of the network of railways used to cart slate from the quarries to the coast)

We continued down the west coast of Wales past some exquisite scenery, stopping at the town of Barnmouth with its little town perched on the small space between a steep rocky hillside a broad, broad beach. Here we had a chance take a peek at one of the local lifeboats.

We continued on to Aberystwyth for lunch, before moving on to the iron age demonstration  town at Castell Henley near Cardigan. There we took in a brisk but extremely passionate education session and looked at their rebuilt round houses, wild boar, iron age breed of sheep, and got a bit of an idea of what it might have been like to live then.  They do school trips and it sounds like lots of hands on fun while kids go to warrior school, weave, build and cook for the day in the iron age ways.

Last day of our trip tomorrow, but tonight we are living it up in style at Hammet House.
