Ruins ruins ruins -and restoration.
We celebrated the last day of August with lots of driving and lots of ruins.
Triangle shows our start and finish at the hotel in CrickHowell.
We saw some amazing Roman ruins , baths, historic artifacts and possibly the original round table amphitheatre in Caerleon.
Then on to more ruins at Caerwent-where you can see the remains of the old Roman town within the new one.
Two Abbeys (Tintern Abbey and Llanthory Priory) gave us our oohs and ahs for the day
We also saw an ancient barn
and tasted some welsh wine (there are only about 20 vineyards in Wales)
before heading over Gospel Pass (the highest road in Wales) on the tricky single track to see stunning views, and then down into Hay on Wye which is basically a booksellers town with many many book shops (lots of second hand and first edition type books).
A lovey dinner with Tim and Joanne topped off the day.
