We could see hardly anything, and the temperature was 0.9 degrees C
The view from a bit lower down the mountain. |
A bit of a history loving afternoon. We visited the Clava Cairns ( very ancient and a bit spooky with their standing stones around the outside.) You can see the entrance to the mound in the top photo. At the midsummer solstice the sun hits the back of the passage on to the quartz rock which is placed there. It seemed strange to be able to walk between the strange mounds , beneath the towering trees and to think of those other people so many centuries ago living their lives and performing their rituals in this place.
Chanced on the longest railway bridge we have seen.
Trevor is again feeling poorly after feeling so much better yesterday. He got up, had breakfast and is now back on his bed fast asleep. I don't want to wake him, but will have to soon.
Am having a lot of fun sitting here shouting 'CAIRNGORM, CAIRNGORM!'
ReplyDeleteTalk about great letters.
You would enjoy some of the Irish words too Thom. Especially the names. They are total classics. I nearly bought a legend book today, and then I realized that it needs to be a CD so that it sounds right.
DeletePoor dad, I told him he should have gotten sick here before you left. I guess this way he gets more of a complete experience??
ReplyDeleteHe didn't let it get too much thank heavens.it would be hard to hack the pace if you were sick.
