Wynn Vale Dam Walk 5/11/19

Last Tuesday we walked in the Modbury area. The map of the walk is shown below.

Fourteen walkers enjoyed the lead up to the Melbourne Cup in each others company, and were back to the car park after their post-walk refreshments in time to gather around Bob's car and listen to  the race

We started by heading to the North-East alongside the small creek.  There was even some water in there, and the nasturtiums were going crazy. Then back again along the other side.

Then we turned to the South-East and down to the dams closer to Montague Rd, where we ate our morning tea at the playground, and even spotted a kangaroo and a water leak.

Turning , and heading Northwards, we passed the old Mulberry tree

past the Jubilee Lake, with lovely fountain and cute ducklings

and up on the Western side of the Dam, past the fisherman who had just thrown back in a 20kg Carp!

The Dam looked great and we enjoyed the explanatory environmental signs the council has put in.

We were really lucky to be let in to have a look at the local community garden - which has thirty current members and is a great spot to share the company of others with a pizza from the oven. It is open to the public on Saturdays if you want to take a look.

The back to the Jubilee lake again for lunch and the serious business of setting up the sweep,
before heading in to the last km or two to the car park to drop off the packs  and making our visit to the Soul Food cafe for some yummy food and drinks and a chat with Laraine, who met with us after the finish.
