Saturday 27th - Narrogin. Aus Middle Distance - Foxes Lair

Both Trevor and I had reasonable runs today, finishing middle of our fields.
Here is my map.

This was the last day of the carnival, and an excellent finish to an excellent carnival.
Jan and Ross have turned up in Narrogin now, and tomorrow we will start on "The Track" . We will probably be out of contact for days at a time.

I have shopped for fresh food. The only thing we haven't got ready is filling up with fuel.

Pub for tea tonight and bacon and eggs in the morning and we will be on our way.
We have taken possession of the coaches trophy which Bridget won (AKA the Naked Man trophy) to transport back to SA for her (too heavy for the plane ride).  Should she trust us with this prize?

Friday 26th April - Narrogin Sprint

We drove down to Narrogin in the morning, arriving just after midday.
We came past our intended start point for "The Track" on the Albany Highway.
The sprint was in the school and surrounding bushland and was great fun.
We both had a map swap (come in and change over your map part way through your course for another one). Maps for my course shown.

We had dinner at the pub with some of the SA contingent in the beer garden. Not bad food.
We stayed at the Albert Facey Motor Inn and had very comfortable beds , enjoyed our lovely hot showers to get clean.

Thursday 25th April- Anzac Day

We have spent the day looking around a little further afield.

We learnt that different birds eat gum nuts in different ways

The pool below Serpentine falls

I'm always a sucker for sunlight coming through leaves.

We took a drive down to the Serpentine Falls and had a short walk there, before heading for Rockingham for lunch on the seafront (being developed)  and then driving home.

We are meeting Joc and the family again tonight before we head off towards home (via the orienteering competition)

Wednesday 24th April 2019- Perth lazy day.

The day started with Rebekah cooking 3 egg souffle omelettes for us. They were totally delicious.

Today was a lazy day for all.  We completed a jigsaw together,

Did a number of crosswords,
Shopped for some of the essentials for our trip back.
Ate delicious Roast beef (Nic) and chocolate pudding (Sarah)

And learnt to play Quirkle,

It was great to have a restful day in between the others.

Tuesday 23rd April - Perth

Today was cleaning day, so we were up and about with all stuff off of the floor to be ready for that.
Nic, Rebekah, Trevor and I took off for a walk around the local area, visiting one cache, a park with a playground, and chatting as we walked about 7.5km.

After filling the gas bottle and lunch at Sizzlers (where we ran into the Marschall family from SA!!)  we headed with the Castelijns family to Kings Park on an ideal day.

There were lots of lovely plants to look at and we had a chance to walk up high on the new boardwalk (paid for by the lottery)

Dinner of soup and toasties was lovely after our huge Sizzler lunch.

Monday 22nd April - Easter Monday (204 km back to Perth)

After another lovely cooked breakfast we checked out from Hope Farm and again headed towards Beverly to the middle distance event.

This was on a simpler area, with less complexity (and over a shorter distance as well.)  Just a little further down the road than yesterday's map.

Trevor had a mid morning start, but Erica had to wait until 1225 for hers.  This gave opportunity to take photos at the finish control and a run with very little sighting of other orienteers.

Trev came 19th, Erica 11th.

The course was certainly easier on our bodies than the previous day. Needless to say, neither of us was in the placings , but we were happy to see that three of the SA juniors were picked for the JWOC team (Dante, Angus and Joanna George) .

Here are a few of the photos from the day.

We headed back to Perth via the Brookton highway and the Perth Hills.

The Monday night markets were on in Beaufort St (just at the end of Nic and Maggie's street) so we walked down there and chose our food from the food trucks assembled.  We had green curry and rice, followed by Creme Brulee.
