Thomas Hill

Today is my first day of holidays. Hooray.

As was fitting, I lingered in bed, even though I was awake. After all, it was a grey day and it was lovely snuggling in the warm and listening to the soccer noises coming from the oval across from our place.

A bit of a stroll down the street to get the paper gave me the opportunity to enjoy the feeble rays of sunshine struggling through, and to ponder the thought patterns of the dogs enjoying their play at the local dog park.  Maybe we should be more like dogs?

We enjoyed our scenic drive through the Adelaide Hills, winding our way up to Stirling and then coming the back way towards Lobethal and the Fox Creek reserve.
Finally we arrived at the house, made some lunch and sat down to be lazy.

A short walk along a very tantalizing path led us to some lovely views

Tantalizing path

The cache fever took over at about that stage and Trevor suggested a walk to the other side of a gully and up a hill to find a geocache,  so off we headed.
For those of you who do not know what on earth I am talking about feel free to go to this link  to find out more. (Thanks for the hint Thom).  We found ourselves at a fantastic vantage point that used to be a trig site. AND FOUND THE CACHE AS WELL . (spoiler alert)

Another bit of walking to try to find another meant that we discovered "the Thomas Hill Climb".  We understood why it has been named as such when we had to come back up feeling like losers due to our lack of success.

We did, however get to admire some lovely groves of native trees and also the cheeky wattle which was doing its best to brighten a pretty gloomy day.

One final walk for the day to a vantage point nearby was to try to catch the sunset for you but this was the best I could do. Too many clouds and too gloomy for a decent sunset.  But the grey clouds were pretty cool.
